High School Curriculum

In our high school, students receive a solid foundation in every subject which prepares them for success in all of life, including college, trade school, military, missions, work, or entrepreneurship. Ultimately, we want our students to become good citizens who work hard, support their families, and contribute to their communities.

To graduate, students must complete the following course of study:

  • Four years of history
    • Ancient History
    • European History
    • American History
    • Founding Principles, Civics, and Economics

  • Four years of literature
    • Ancient Literature
    • European Literature
    • American Literature
    • Great Books

  • Four years of math
    • Algebra I
    • Geometry
    • Algebra II
    • Pre-calculus
    • Calculus

  • Three years of science
    • Earth and Environmental
    • Biology
    • Chemistry

  • Two years of world language
    • Spanish I
    • Spanish II

  • One year of Health and Physical Education

  • Core requirements in Grammar & Composition, Philosophy, Public Speaking, and Rhetoric

  • Electives in Art, Music, Theatre, Broadcasting, Mock Trial, Weightlifting, Literature, History, Business, Computer Programming, and more.

  • Honors, AP, and Dual-Enrollment courses offered.

  • Tuition-free Dual-Enrollment classes can be taken through Surry Community College during Junior and Senior Year in both college-transfer and career & technical pathways.
