If the total number of applications received exceeds the established capacity of the Academy or grade level for the upcoming year by February 20 (the lottery eligibility deadline), then a fair and impartial lottery will be held on February 21 of that same year.  Those who are accepted by lottery will be required to enroll no later than March 15 for the upcoming school year.  A student who fails to enroll by the March 15 deadline if accepted by lottery may be removed from the list of students and may be required to re-apply to gain admittance.  If the applications do not exceed Academy or grade level capacity by February 20, then all students who have submitted applications by that deadline will be accepted for admission and no lottery will be held.

Additional students will then be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis after February 20 until
the capacity is full.  If more than one application is received after the lottery and the capacity is exceeded, then a daily lottery of that day's applications only will be held.  Those students that are accepted after the completion of the lottery will be required to enroll within three weeks of notification of acceptance.  A student who fails to enroll within three weeks of notification of acceptance may be removed from the list of students and may be required to re-apply to gain admittance.

If a lottery is held, those students not accepted by the lottery will be placed on a priority waiting list in the order drawn.  Students will then be contacted in the order established by lottery, or if no lottery is required, in the order applications are received, if and when openings occur.  Parents of any student on the waiting list will have two full working days after being contacted to determine whether to place their child at MCA.  If the parents do not respond, the next student on the waiting list will be given the opportunity in the same manner set forth above.  All contacts for this purpose will be made by telephone; unless at the time the parent places a child on the waiting list he or she discloses that phone service is unavailable.  In that event, the time frame will be extended by additional two business days to allow for first class mailing.

Siblings of currently enrolled students receive admission priority and do not participate in the lottery, but submit an application prior to the lottery deadline.
