Why donate to a public school?” you might ask. Yes, MCA is a public school, but as a charter school, MCA receives no capital funding from the State of North Carolina. All of our buildings, labs, and athletic fields come as the result of a long-term, low interest government loan and many generous private donations. It is through generous people and businesses in the community that MCA is able to provide the facility and many of the benefits that go with a high quality education.
“But what difference would my donation make?” Plenty! From small to large, every donation is appreciated and used wisely, and every donation makes a difference for our students. Donations have been used in many areas, from athletics to library books to music instruments to a state-of-the-art science lab.
You can make this difference in several ways. One, obviously, is through financial donations. Another is through the use of your time by volunteering in a capital campaign. You can also write our state legislators requesting an increase in funding for charter schools. Although financial donations can be accepted in any area, some focus areas where your contribution can really make a difference are our high school expansion, fine arts, technology, and athletics.
All donations are fully tax deductible within the limits of federal and state laws. You may make a one-time contribution, or your contribution can be pledged and given over a period of one to five years, and the MCA Capital Campaign committee can set up a billing program for you to assist with record keeping. Please call 336.789.7570 if you’d like to learn more about giving to MCA or email MCA’s Development Office.
