Becky McMillian - 1st Grade Teacher

Becky McMillian came to MCA in 2005 with twenty-one years of teaching experience in grades K-1. Prior to MCA, she most recently taught at Mountain Park Elementary. She graduated from Radford University witha BS in Early Childhood Education is is certified BK-6. She resides in Cana, Va with her husband Britt. They have two sons and one granddaughter.

Emily Mauck - 1st Teaching Assistant

  Emily Mauch graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a BA in French. She has been a first grade assistant at Millennium since 2008. Mrs. Mauck and her husband have three children.  

Jeanette Leonard - 1st Teaching Assistant

Jeanette Leonard graduated from North Surry High School. She worked in Carroll County as a teaching assistant in language development for 10 years before coming to MCA in 2001. She is very active in her church and serves as the church pianist.

Jodi Dearmin - 1st Grade Teacher

Jodi Dearmin graduated from Surry Central High School. She earned an Associates in Arts degree from Surry Community College, and she earned her Bachelor in Elementary Education at UNC at Charlotte. She started teaching at MCA in January of 2002. Since then, she has earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. She and her husband, Justin, have two little girls, Elizabeth and Lillian.

Mary Richardson - 1st Teaching Assistant

  Mary Richardson, a graduate of North Surry High School, joined MCA staff in 2008 and is currently a teacher assistant in first grade. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from UNCG. After twelve years employment in human resources, she left corporate America to start a family with her husband, John.  Since having children, she has worked in early childhood education through children’s ministry at church and has taught a three-year-old preschool class at CMCC. Her two children, Henry and Emily, are currently enrolled at MCA.

Sheena Slate - 1st Grade Teacher

Sheena Slate joined MCA in 2007. She graduated from Mount Airy High School, and holds an Associate of Arts from Surry Community College, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lees-McRae College.
